The east shore of the lake Biwa is near to Kyoto , indispensable when telling the history of medieval times of Japan. It is an area suitable for just calling it a historical treasury. The Hokoku road of guidance here connects Toriimoto-cho, city Hikone, prefecture Shiga - South Echizen-cho Imajo, prefecture Fukui (Edo term). This road is a way which progress the east shore of the lake Biwa, north from south, and joined the Hokuriku road in South Echizen-cho Imajo. (It seems two roads were called the Hokoku road. It seems that the road joined the Hokuriku road from northern Nagano in Niigata Naoetsu, the city Joetsu was also called the Hokoku road.)
